Gramophone didn't like this, owing to the singing--http://www.gramophone.co.uk/node/129770/media-detail

Any other reactions/reviews?

though it won't of course replace my Klemperer/Wunderlich/Ludwig on LP or Stotijn on SACD: Mahler: Das Lied von der Erde - Sieghart, it's a more than enjoyable recording with good singing, I find. Gramophone on Mahler is more miss than hit, in my opinion. Given the paucity of good (& affordable) LvdE's on SACD, I'd still recommend this one. See the quite positive reviews in below German-language mags:

...and as I said in an earlier post on the Zinman box set, David Hurwitz has reviewed the new Zinman LvdE, but it's behind a pay wall. But most likely he's critical, as ever.
But since when are die Herren Kritiker, who do this for a living, the ones who decide what we think ourselves?

Ah, now I see who's the author of the Gramophone review: Edward Seckerson. Not someone to trust when it comes to things Mahlerian, I've come to experience ever since that idiotic review of his of Salonen's excellent M9. Eckerson deals in sentimentalisms like "nothing here speaks to my heart". Everything he says in respect of Mahler should be taken with a large pinch of salt.

….Completely agree with you about that.
