I am new to this forum.

My understanding is that SACDs can not be sold in ISO form. Sony has recently joined the bandwagon of DSD downloads with its HiRez initiative.

Has Sony changed their stance or are there legitimate sites selling SACD ISO files for sale?

I know there have been discussions already to the quasilegitimate use of PS3 for ripping SACDs for backup use only.

No, Sony has certainly not changed their stance. To my knowledge, there are no legitimate sites selling or sharing ripped ISO DSD files. There would be no need, for the label owners would have supplied the original DSD files, and would be sharing in the selling price.

Perhaps peraja would be willing to privately share the URL of the site? I'm in the book.

As an aside, while they're no "laws" limiting a SACD owner from ripping the content from a SACD for their personal use, that was not the understanding or intent that labels entered into when that adopted the use of SACD for their studio quality master content. They thought, and priced accordingly that the DSD content was safe from theft (read ripping). To the degree that the content can be ripped for personal use on servers is a matter on conscious of each individual. To be clear, that content was aimed at being played off the SACD only.

To the degree that ripped content is either shared, or worse yet sold, is clearly against copyright law. That content is owned by the label(s), and not by the SACD purchaser.

There are, in every country that ratified the 1996 WIPO copyright treaty. You can rip your CDs, but not copyprotected formats (SACD, Blu-ray, DVD), even for your personal use.

It doesn't make much sense, but it's the law.
