What's going on with prices for sacds? I just noticed the asking price for one I picked up at Broinc for probably $4.00 is now listed on amazon for $580 (Geri Allen - life of a song). $15.00 Mercury sacds now are $150.00. I might understand the case for high auction prices for a rare run of especially well executed vinyl pressings, but for easily reproducible digital discs-- why?

They're out of print... When something's no longer available, the prices go up!

Sellers can ask for what they like but the only price that matters is the one that somebody is willing to pay. I trust most people on here of average common sense would smile, shrug and move on.
I will go out on a limb and say IMHO no (classical) SACD yet released has been so desirable SQ and performance wise as to justify a price above £20 with the necessary exception of having to pay a premium price to get hold of discs from Japan.
