Treacly to the max, but well done for what it is.

"Treacly," Euell?
From the looks of the cover photo, appears to me like Phillipe and Lily are waiting to hail a cab in lower Manhattan!
And of course, the album is in multichannel, which, unfortunately for you, Euell, eliminates the sugary ambience exuded by this "treacly" pair.

We do live music in the same space. Doesn't sound all that different, but I'll not argue with you boys with the golden ears.

Unless you live in Downtown Abbey, Euell, I suspect there wouldn't be much ambience to speak of.
Ambience captures the sound of the concert venue in which it was recorded attempting to give the listener the aural sensation of attending a live concert.

Well, that would be wrong. Unlike some, I don't listen in the basement. The room is ample for ambiance, certainly for piano and violin. And, lest we forget, even stereo delivers some ambiance information.

You forget, I have 5 surround systems (2 of them are in basements). And yes, on occasion, I have been treated to ambience from 2 channel sources.

What do you do for fun (other than abuse poor AmonRa) and how do you decide which of the five to fire up?
