These discs do break in and open up and breathe after a few listens...

So if something about these discs change every time you play them, aren't you worried about wearing them out, just like with vinyl? What if the next time you play one turns out to be the time you ruined it from excessive wear?

They would be perfect delivery medium for software, as after one/few installs they would not work anymore!

It is not a format, it is a marketing ploy to squeeze more money form gullible audiophiles.

SACD is basically a copy protected DVD. Clean disks can be read with perfect accuracy (something like one read error per 2 Terabits of data). Using SHM voodoo in the manufacturing and charging 3 times the money for that is not going to make that one lost bit appear once per week of constant playing.

And is it did, nobody would notice.

Learn the facts, not just read the pseudo scientific marketing jumbo-mumbo.

I wonder where you people come from. It is obvious you do not own a decent system nor have an ear for what a FANTASTIC sounding CD can really sound like. As I said, we know some of these sound better than others, but you speak of total nonsense. And what is this (clean discs can be read nonsense)? I am tired of wasting my time on people that think K-TEL cds sound as good as anything else. I am just using that as an extreme as I hope some people back me up here. Go buy the cds you like and leave this site to the ones that really appreciate what great sounding music really sounds like...SHM voodoo, are you crazy, listen to the original WB releases of Love It To Death or The Cars Shake It Up, then go to the new SHM versions. If you can't hear how significantly better these sound, then you truly do not have the ears for this type of format...

I am at a lost to some of this...these are CDS, not vinyl. After several listens they just open up and sound better. They are not going to wear out. Its not like they sound night and day after repeated listens, they just open up more, that's it. Then just sit back and listen a 100 times over as needed. Thanks for your comments!

I do list my system on the user page, you do not.

Good call out, now updated...All I am doing is having fun listening to music. I had no idea one review would open up such a can of worms...then attack a format that they obvious have not spent enough time with. I almost wish I would never have signed up on this site. Way too negative for my likes...

Then post reliable information instead of "audiophile" mythology rubbish. Most people on this site know the difference between the two.

You'll get more respect if you follow this simple rule.

Ok, enough already...talk about rubbish...you sure sling it with the best of them. You never stated which of these discs you own and what you do not like about them...all you have done is trashed this format. You are like the kind of person that would review an album even if you hated the band, just so you could trash it.

...I plan on reviewing all of my purchases in this format. Once again all I can say is WOW!!!!!!

Please your reviews coming, scotty.

No sci-fi or mumbo jumbo from me on these, I am an SHM-SACD skeptic. Cannot explain how/why these get better as they play more. When my Who's Next went from bleh to Wow I was shocked! Nah, it's my imagination. Recently I got Breakfast In America and first listen I thought it had dull/muddy bass. After a dozen plays it is tight and clear...I use it as a demo for my friends.

Could be wishful thinking on my part and that's OK from an enjoyment standpoint. Might be a human perception thing, ears fine-tuning...or the player or the media...don't know but it happens.

Must Play Loud.

thanks for this as I was really getting bummed out over some of this feedback. I just asked to have all of my feedback removed as this format is not what I was expecting. I truly thought this was for listeners that got it, not to attack it. I truly believe some people forgot to have fun when listening to good sounding music, not to tear it apart like some mad scientist. Oh well, as I said, I have done everything I could to help promote music over the years, so I am a little taken back when someone tells me I talk in rubbish, as I know for a fact my over all knowledge for music. I am sure these haters know their music as well, but it is obvious they have not listened to the better sounding titles on this format the proper way...thanks so much!
