I am wondering if any of you can tell me if there is any technical reason why multichannel SA-CD's made from quad masters such as these new Moody Blues selections could not be made into true 5.1 surround? And is it then incorrect to call them 5.1 on the packaging since there is no center or subwoofer channels, or is 5.1 just becoming a generic designation for multichannel? One of these albums was done several years ago (DOFP) in true 5.1 DTS, so it was done successfully for that process from the quad master. I just wondered if there is some reason this SA-CD format prevented this from being done that way for these new releases? Does this have to be a judgment call by the makers? Justin had said he didn't want to change anything over the originals, but I don't understand why no effort was made to go all the way to 5.1. Side by side, I can't help but say that the surround version of DOFP made by DTS Entertainment still blows away the new SA-CD version. I love all 5 of these new discs, don't get me wrong, and I am thrilled with all the extra tracks, but I admit to being shocked that there was no center or subwoofer and am just wondering why. I don't have a whole lot of SA-CD's, is this more common than I realize? (note: For some reason there IS low volume center channel on "On The Threshold Of A Dream", can anyone explain why that would be? Of the 4 multichannel SA-CD's, this one seems to have the best sound). Peace- Gloria
