Was just looking at this listing and the cover - why does it say 'Fingal's Cave' (from a Midsummer Night's Dream)'?
A Midsummer Night's Dream was an overture and incidental music, while Fingal's Cave is just another name for The Hebrides Overture, the two works are unconnected as far as I know. Is this a bit of a howler by Universal?
I wouldn't actually mind knowing exactly what is on the disc, presumably just the Third Symphony (Scottish) and The Hebrides, hence the disc's title.

Using some translation software on the relevant amazon.jp page, there is music from AMND & 3rd Symphony - it is not at all clear that the Hebrides overture is on the disc or not. Sorry I can't help more.

Hmmm, it's not on mine. "Fingal's Cave" no longer appears on the cover. At over 79 minutes already (for a hybrid) I suspect something had to give.

I have the Symphony in a couple of iterations and the Midsummer's Night Dream in at least one on LP and CD. I was never quite happy with the LPs or CDs - diminished high frequencies, what is the SACD like?

I have what is called "The Classic Sound" reissue of this recording of the "Scottish" and it has "Fingal's Cave" (on the original LP too) AND excerpts from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" that featured on an earlier Maag recording of the complete incidental music with the LSO. The excerpts are the "Overture", "Scherzo", "Nocturne" and "Wedding March".

Johnno is correct: this is a reissue of 443-578-2, a CD reissued in the Decca "Classic Sound" Series; the graphics shown are the same. The liner notes for this CD indicate that the originals appeared on SXL 2246 (the symphony and the overture) and SXL 2060 (MSND). Sadly though, the latter is severely truncated, omitting 4 of the 8 selections that appeared on the original album AND the Classic Records Gold CD reissue (CSCD 6001). With regard to what is available in a digital format, I would have a hard time believing that the work that Classic did on this gold CD as well as the one for the symphony and overture (CSCD 6191) could be bettered on a mass market SACD -- even if it were engineered in Japan.

I haven't ever seen this one available. It must be long OOP. Any idea of if or when a reissue might become available? Maybe a remastering?

A SHM-SACD might be released one day, but you'll not get any insider info here or in another forum. New japanese releases are officially announced by the label or show up for pre-order in japanese online stores, and that's the only way the information is issued.
That 2004 SACD was mastered from 24/96 PCM copies, and current Decca SHM-SACD reissues are new DSD transfers, so if it gets reissued it will probably be a remaster.
