I thought you might be interested in the following SONY desk top PC which is now available with SACD. (PS I am in no way connected with either SONY or the computer shop.

It doesn't really say that. They simply tout "SA-CD-quality audio" and say:

"It has the power and sophisticated features necessary for manipulating and editing High Definition (HD) video and Super Audio CD (SA-CD) ***quality sound***."

There's nothing about DSD. My guess is that "SACD quality sound" means 96kHz/24bit PCM audio, which doesn't require much power to work with. Considering that the computer is built to run Adobe Premiere Standard, it's probably a P.O.S.

The new VAIO PCs let users record, play and edit music in DSD. However, they don't play SACD.

Nor can you burn your own SACDs. So it's kind of pointless IMHO.

I didn't have info about it the PC, I just saw it in an advertising flyer. I see from the links that you can edit in DSD, but as you say, if you are only able to record the result in to normal redbook format, it doesn't make much sense. I suppose it'd be too much to hope for that you'd be at least able to capture the DSD data from a hifi SACD player via ilink? The only other option would to have a computer optical drive that could read/write SACD format. I don't suppose that it'd be much different from a DVD recorder so I don't understand why Sony hasn't made one.

I very much doubt that Sony would ever license a DSD connection to a SACD burner - one of the major USP's that DSD/SACD has is (as far as the copyright owners are concerned) that you cannot copy the signal without some conversion (and hence loss).

It is silly though that we can't playback SACD on a PC (other than the CD layer) and also that if one can create, edit and save DSD tracks on a PC then why not release a drive that will record these onto SACD?
