I wish you luck with your new kit. Remember however, that it's a long-term purchase decision and that you may not be as pleased with it in a year as you are now.

I've ALWAYS found purchasing something on price alone to be unwise. If I can't currently afford an item, I postpone that purchase until I have the means to do so.

My 2p. : )

Hi
The Purchase of this AMP was not based on money if it was i would not have purchased it , the decision to purchase it NOW was based on money as my sound room is not ready yet.The decision i made to purchase
this model was formend on information that i got here and from bits and pices i required during my research, if i wanted to buy an amp purely on money , i would not have come here for advice.
My HK died and am building a sound room so i think i also have the means.Cheers

Meh. I purchased my Yamaha as a Black Friday deal for a price I couldn't refuse, even though I wasn't really planning on it purchasing a new AVR or spending that kind of money on a whim. I haven't regretted it once.

I personally like the sound of pure direct...it's warmer or whatever. But I definitely like having the choice between the room-adjustment settings (even though I understand YPAO isn't as good as Audyssey it sounds fine to me) and going pure DSD with the flick of a switch.

You wanna be happy with what you got and sometimes it doesnt matter how and or why we even bought
an item.Since my HK died i actually need this item and i am sure i am going to be as happy as you .Cheers

Funnily, I was in the same situation almost a year ago when my 3 year old AVR died unexpectedly. I know all to well what it's like.

My response to that was immediate replacement with then current equivalent of it. What's not funny however, it's one of those models that's never discounted. Either pay RRP or don't buy it.

I was quiet lucky to get it for $2300 as well so i think it worked out quiet well especially when you uptrade
as well, gotta say this amp i am so happy with this amp it is probably the best sounding Amp i have ever

NAD is a decent brand, but it would not be a top choice for me among AVRs. Compared to the aforementioned Denon, Marantz, Onkyo or Integra offerings, NAD are pricey, lower in power and features, and their top model only provides Audyssey MultEQ XT, whereas the other brands provide the superior MultEQ XT/32 from about the middle of their lines on up. I could be wrong, because there are no specs on their site, a curious omission, but I also do not think they support bitstreamed DSD, if that is important to you.

Hi just wanted to say thanks for your help , ended up with getting the NAD T 777 for $2300 and have
been listening to it for the last couple of days and i am quiet happy with the sound as in regards to dsd
it doesnt seem to be able to accept dsd as a native format as it display pcm on the screen , in saying that
it does sound great, also tested my old denon sacd via rca and that also sounded very good nice and warm
either multi or 2 channel. As in regards MultEq Xt 32 would have been good to have as the one i ran the nad with sounded hollow and weird so i have to leave it off and it is a huge difference but i am sure as time goes by i will know this thing back to front. The main thing for me is that i am happy with it.Thanks
for your help.Cheers
Henk
