I highly recommend these discs. Clearly stated on the rear, they are both remastered from Open Reel 1/4 inch stereo tapes and in terms of SQ, except for a bit of background hiss, I did not detect any print through or drop outs.
Over 150 minutes of heartfelt, magnificent music and the diminuitive Alicia de Larrocha's piano is superbly recorded on Disc One: Iberia {complete}.

Been listening to it for the last 2 days, it is superb I even prefer it to her 86 recording on Decca which I cherished. The recording quality is excellent.

Interesting. Very interesting.
My reaction to Praga's 'Reminiscenses' series has been very mixed. There is no arguing with the repertoire, of course, but SQ of discs I have heard has been all over the place, ranging from mediocre to excellent - depending, of course, on the quality of the source material available to them.
If - as appears - this is one of the good'uns, Larrocha's complete piano version will make it self-recommending, of course. And a bargain!

Strange expression, that, isn't it? After all, I'd much rather eat swine than a pearl any day (oy veh).
Thanks for your feedback on SQ. Now a must-buy.

Of course the expression is "pearls before swine", with a different meaning.

Yes, I know, was having a little poke...
When's the last time you saw these fed to piggies, anyway?
Or are you suggesting that we - the audience on SACD.net - have swinish tendencies?
Surely not.

"a pearl from the swine" would then best describe this release (as far as their public domain reissues go)
