Why not just buy the CD, which is available on Amazon for $12.40 and probably sounds about the same as the SACD?

Sacrilege, Euell..........bite thy tongue :> !

By paying over $1200 for this SACD new at Amazon will give one the satisfaction that they have been royally screwed!

Well, I found it for 30 dollars, plus shipping, the price of being a late adapter, even though I already had the rbcd. As Rammie says, why go rbcd when you can go for broke with sacd? At least I won't be 1200 dollars broke. Rhetorical question: what can those guys who are asking that much be thinking?

Actually, a great price, Lunna, considering that it listed for $19. Rounder Records only put out a few SACDs but they were quality releases.

Others on this site who regularly sell their used wares on E~bay will argue that whatever one can get is fine by them.

I constantly get criticized for spending lavish sums on power cords, etc but at least they benefit my entire audio/video system. But paying those same lavish sums for OOP music is ridiculous, IMO, since, as you found out, they can usually be procured for much less if one is patient.

So, AP or MoFi or AF....how about a box set of SACDs covering Ms Nyro's entire Columbia catalogue...without the usual $100 box?

I'll drink to that!

Would love to hear it - don't even need the original, would be happy with a burned copy even at least no DRM issues with HDCD! I guess I just have to be patient and scour the net for it - it's bound to come up. Heck, I'm even happy with the screechy versions - I can't imagine what nuggets of gold Steve Hoffman mined to produce the AF disc!

Lunna, regarding the AF 24k Gold HDCD encoded Laura Nyro The Essential Masters: just received the new Music Direct catalog and they show this album as available for $24.99 (brand new).

False alarm: checked the website, itself and it's not listed. False advertising (in the new catalog)

Sorry!

It is not an SACD unfortunately, but there is a fabulous live album of just Laura & piano:
Spread Your Wings & Fly: Fillmore East May 30 1971.
