Okay, as a Laura Nyro lover and a human being, I'm now officially disgusted. Some people are greedy beyond belief. Do they really love music or the almighty dollar? This is despicable. Yuck!!!

Ridiculous prices....

But even more ridiculous is the total absence of the essence that is the great Laura Nyro and none of her Columbia gems are available on SACD.

A Crime.....a real shame!

Is it "Gonna Take A Miracle?"

Look on the bright side - this is an incentive to make all her albums available in high-res, either downloads or SACD!

I agree with Rammiepie that her Columbia albums should have been a priority, especially as they have all been re-released.

I'd buy any new Laura Nyro SACD in a second - who do we go to? Analogue? MoFi?

Take your pick. I did purchase the AF 24k Gold edition of Laura Nyro's Greatest Hits (HDCD encoded) and was pleasantly surprised at the uptick in quality compared to the SONY RBCD remasters (shrill) but a full SACD remastering from the original analogue master tapes would uncover a lot more detail which even the 16 bit Gold remaster never could.

If neither MoFi nor AP are interested, perhaps Audio Fidelity could license the Nyro master tapes from SONY and get the ball rolling.

A VERY serious ommission from the SACD catalogue, IMO.

ralph - are you referring to this one? Laura Nyro - Time And Love - The Essential Masters Gold CD

Yes, Lunna, that IS the correct title. It has most of her greatest hits from the SONY catalogue.

Until a hi rez SACD remaster emerges (that's if, it EVER does), this disc gets my vote as the next best thing!

There is a recent 2 disc retrospective from SONY (Greatest Hits: Stoned Soul Picnic) which contains much more of an overview but IMO, the Gold remaster, at least to my ears and on my system, is the way to go.

Was lucky to get mine for $20 (new) + p/h from an Amazon third party vendor. Now it's almost three times that price, new and more (ironically) Used!

But it's definitely HDCD encoded (20 bit?) and a quick check at the Audio Fidelity website shows it as OUT OF STOCK (and probably Out of Print, as well).

Would love to hear it - don't even need the original, would be happy with a burned copy even at least no DRM issues with HDCD! I guess I just have to be patient and scour the net for it - it's bound to come up. Heck, I'm even happy with the screechy versions - I can't imagine what nuggets of gold Steve Hoffman mined to produce the AF disc!

I've noticed a trend, in the past, regarding disgustingly priced offers on the various amazons. This trend seems to be consistent with the obscene asking prices of this SACD as well. Sure enough - when you look at almost everyone of these "offers" (gag) for this SACD, they "ship out of the United States" (or plug in the appropriate foreign language translation). I, born in the USA, a federal employee no less, and of unquestioned patriotism, am embarrassed as bleep at the greed of my fellow countrymen/women. Again, it ain't just with respect to this SACD. Fine example we're giving to the rest of the music loving world: $$$ before music. Grrrrr.

Why not just buy the CD, which is available on Amazon for $12.40 and probably sounds about the same as the SACD?
