Is this Head Games SA-CD still better than the RBCD ?

It's a little better but not by much. Must just be a bad master.

It was never a great recording. IIRC Mick Jones said it was purposely recorded 'grungy' to counter the polished production of the first two albums.

Garbage IN Garbage OUT. Wish I had known......would've stuck with the RBCD and saved myself a lot of money!

Not a lot of money but if it was going to be no better than the RBCD I could have used the money for another SACD. Next time I'll wait for reviews before buying disc from MoFi.

Treated Head Games with a new Ultra Bit polish, put the Marigo HD damper on top and played it though my Maranz SA11s3 with my new Shunyata Research Zitron Cobra interconnects and it sounded MUCH better tonight. The Cables are relatively new and still breaking in so by next week it should improve.

The SHM~SACD of Queen's Greatest Hits Vol II still smokes it (much better bass definition and a much more engaging soundstage)

I retract that statement. Played Head Games last night and while it is NOT a demo disc by any stretch of the imagination MoFi has managed to preserve the sound of the master tape.

Played it at a relatively high volume and it rocks, as it should. Some cuts sound better than others but all in all, it really comes down to your SACD playback device........

Love my OPPO BDP~105 but when it comes to MoFi and AP and especially SHM~SACD STEREO playback, I love my Marantz SA11s3 a WHOLE lot more!

It is, after all, 'optimized' for SACD Stereo playback.

Have lent an ear to the first three Foreigner albums yeasterday in one go....sonically best is the second one. next time I will compare MoFi "4" with the older DVD-A release.

Critical listening to the first three revealed that MoFi had done their best with the source material and I can confirm that these are worth the money. So anyone hesitating should buy them while their are available in e-shops.

Just read hooperthom's review and received my copy of Head Games from MoFi yesterday. NO clicks on the first cut on my copy but I do agree with Tom that it's nothing to write home about.....although I'm still burning in my new Shunyata Research Cobra Zitron interconnects which I've added to my Marantz SA11s3.

Just ordered the 5.1 Foreigner 4 SACD from CDJapan only to have the two bonus cuts which were not included on the DVD~A.

If the clicking hooperthom is referring to occurs a bit after the "Every night I get one step closer to the danger zone" lyrics, it happens on other versions as well. I have the original/unremastered CD and the mid-90s remaster as well as the new SACD, and I hear it on all 3 discs.

Sure hope you got the 1 meter pair. I imagine the longer cables would bankrupt you.
