The CDjapan website says "Release Postponed", which is more correct than "cancelled".

If the exclusivity deal with FNAC is worldwide, then the Amazon.ca order will also have to wait 6 months to be shipped.

The email I got from CDJapan say it was cancelled. Maybe just to CDJapan, they still list it on Amazon Japan but you can't buy it though them using Amazon US login.

Today on CNN there was news that France was officially in a Recession.

I wonder if this news has anything to do with a delay in Universal's BD~A launch?

Probably not but it makes you wonder...............

Francs for necessities or Francs for BD~A's.

Let's be frank!

Amazon Canada (French), US Amazon login works. Not really worth the hassle, I rather have it on SACD.

Like your wordplay :-)

But France has been in a Recession way before the worldwide 2007/2008 debt crisis, since the 90's to say the least.

The 1973 "petroleum shock" already shook us at the end of our 30-years long "glorious" post-war reconstruction era, and from the 80's all curves kept going down and down.

Anyway, I'm looking forward hearing one day "Universal will launch in France a SA-CD test market, the same as they did for BD-A"... that would mean new releases and a second chance for the SA-CD... though I don't think people would be better informed than they are now.

and The Rolling Stones' "GRRR!" in the meantime. Don't know how the latter sounds like (shipped yesterday), but I've read positive reviews.

I received mine yesterday, you won't regret it.

It does look at least as if one of them is in surround. Amazon France has the back of the disc box for Dire Straits Alchemy Live.

Melody Nelson is claimed to be in 5.1.

There IS NO delay in the release. FNAC has all of them in stock. You can order them there. I don't understand all this whining. Every medium that carries High Rez music is basically good. Especially when no new hardware is needed. I agree though with the argument, that it would have been wiser to put an already existing surround mix on the discs. Let's see, if that happens. There has been no info on that yet. It is aimed at the stereo listener though as it seems. Given, that there are plenty of blu-ray surround releases out there already, this might explain, why they call it a new fromat. It is supposed to be and remains stereo only... but this is just a guess.

The Grrr disc is great and the Mylene Farmer one sounds good as well. Even though there is a lot of compression and loundness on this one, it sounds more three dimensional and detailed than the CD.

But, even though this is off topic: Loudness is the main issue on todays releases. I listen to Prince's Purple Rain on CD right now and it sounds fantastic! It blows away the high rez Farmer disc big time.

PS. There have been reports in a german HIFI Forum that the BD-Audio Discs will be FNAC exclusive til september... No reason was given, though.
