Hello
I bought a used Yamaha S2500 player, but does not read the SACD. After you insert a disc SACD Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon, playing a CD layer only, and it is not possible to change the SACD layer of the remote control by pressing the Sound Mode. I decided to replace the laser (SF-HD60) and at the same tie, the lack of results. All other CDs, DVD-Video/Audio are read, of course, the cables are plugged in analog (HDMI SPDIF 1.1vi are not compatible with SACD).
Has anyone encountered a similar problem at home, or know what I can do?
Please help me.

Unfortunately this particular model of Yamaha player whilst having a HDMI connection will not output SACD signals via HDMI. You will have to use the analog multichannel 5.1 outputs to listen to SACD.
Only its i-Link connector will allow SACD to be transferred digitally to a compatible receiver. I believe the Yamaha will output DVD Audio via HDMI, but as far as I am aware there is no internal DSD to PCM conversion to allow the SACDs signal to be output as PCM via HDMI instead.

Check the players i-link settings, this should be set to " off " otherwise all analog and digital audio output is muted within the player. Also ensure that in the Audio menu " Analog Output" is set to MULTICHANNEL ( not stereo, Dolby surround compat, or 3D sound ), this way the internal decoders for SACD will be activated and allow the analog 5.1 outputs to function. Also ensure that Digital output is set to " ALL " so that your optical/coax digital outputs will still bitstream Dolby and DTS signals to a suitable receiver for DVD video playback. Hope that helps ^ _ ^

My problem is that, when im put sacd to the player then only detect CD no SACD indicator light. Maybe is something with DSD procesor wrong?

Hmmmm...not sure about that, Ive re-edited my post with futher suggestions, try those and see how you go : ) I dought the DSD processor is faulty, the DAC will be DSD/PCM one, if the DSD was affected I am sure the PCM ( thus CD ) would also be similarly affected. Perhaps the LED illuminating the SACD indicator on the front panel is simply dud?

According to many internet forums this DVD player has been beset with technical problems from outset not least an inability to play SACD. I guess the obvious very naive question - was it ever designed to play SACD in the first place? I know it claims to be multi-format but what's in a claim if the maker doesn't expect many users to select some modes.

As Yoropiko1 suggested, this player does not render DSD sound as a digital stream via HDMI. So, if you've set your player in HDMI mode, maybe the player automatically won't accept playing the SA-CD layer of your discs as long as you're not back to analog output mode ?

Get your player back to the retailer and use the guaranty. This is not normal.

This player is too old for guaranty.
