This release TOGE 11096 Messiaen: Eclairs Sur L'Au-Dela - Rattle, EMI Japan is definitely a 5.1 release despite the confusing markings on the disc and case.

It also seems certain that TOGE-11099 Dvorak: Symphonic Poems - Rattle is also a 5.1 release if the liner notes are to be believed. These two join the Mahler 5 as also definitely 5.1, TOGE 11086 Mahler: Symphony No. 5 - Rattle and Holst the Planets TOGE 11084-85 Holst: The Planets - Rattle which are also crypto 5.1 releases as well.

Someone may want to update the records here. I can confirm the Mahler 5 and the Messiaen as correct. The other two are based on the liner note although I am sure the Holst has been reported here as well.

Just to be absolutely clear (because I'm sure orders will depend upon this); are you saying that you have this disc & it plays a distinct MCH layer?

I have it, and even though can't verify actual M/C playback on my stereo system, the booklet details clearly state "Multi-ch [text in Japanese] 5.1 ch [text in Japanese]" under artist credits on the first page.

This somewhat of a big deal, I think. These are recently recorded Rattle performances , right? Not from the older ones some of which wetter made into DVD-A's back in the day? If so, maybe more of them are MC?

As I said
"This release TOGE 11096 Messiaen: Eclairs Sur L'Au-Dela - Rattle, EMI Japan is definitely a 5.1 release despite the confusing markings on the disc and case."

I have both discs (Mahler 5, Messaien] and both are Hybrid Stereo and 5.1. I am now ordering the Dvorak double disc as well since its 5.1.

Here's the disc itself also marked multichannel.

The Tone Poems, but the performances? Meh.
