Maybe I will call Onkyo and see if they have any suggestions?

There's a setting on your Onkyo you need to check as well.

Hardware Setup -> HDMI -> Audio TV Out: Off

When set to 'On', the receiver passes the audio signal through to the TV set; but of course the TV cannot process a DSD signal nor a multichannel signal and this is exactly the sort of thing which could throw everything out of whack.

Which is why in the Onkyo's set up Menu, HDMI OUT should be in the OFF position and everything falls into place.

The player, if set to DSD out, will be manifested on the Onkyo's screen and it will output DSD multichannel, if selected.

IMO, a pain in the neck as the Onkyo has to be manually reset to output HDMI to the TV when the music stops playing and you want to watch TV.

rammiepie go actually have an Onkyo receiver?
I have 2, and HDMI is on, otherwise you can't see the disc info
on your TV.

I do have an Onkyo and I know you can't view the TV when the HDMI out is OFF but if you want to hear pure DSD multichannel through the Onkyo, that's what you have to do and turn the HDMI out back ON manually when you want to view the TV.

Even on my main system, if I'm listening to an SACD via my OPPO BDP~105 and I turn my projector on the sound cuts out {loses synch with the HD621 switcher box) and then comes back on again when the projector is fired up but as I've reported before, with the new Vivilink HDMI cable it returns to the exact spot on the SACD, whereas with my old HDMI cable, I had to manually reboot the player.

Perhaps in future generations of receivers and pre/pros, this situation will (or should) be rectified.

Another annoying artifact. The OPPO has two HDMI outs but when I plugged #1 into my 22" Samsung 1080p monitor for Blu~ray Audio discs (without firing up the projector), My Meridian 861 reverts to stereo only playback (no multichannel) so now I only have HDMI #2 going to my switcher (and the new OPPOs have NO component or composite video outputs which I used {component} with the OPPO BDP~93....and it worked perfectly with the Samsung monitor)

Way, way annoying!

Always had the problem running Oppo using HDMI 1, I can't use Analog at all, sound goes in and out. I gave up using analog all together. Too much of an hassle.

It is not a problem but a feature. The two HDMI outputs are different and the manual clearly distinguishes them. HDMI2 (on the 103/5) is what you want to use for connection to an AVR or prepro and it will provide the best option for sound. HDMI1 is more suited to direct connection to a display and has more advanced video processing. There are, also, options for using both simultaneously.

I have the Oppo 95 and HDMI 1 to TV and HDMI 2 to AV but if I wanted to listen to Analog out from the player I have to up-plug HDMI 1. If i don't sound from analog goes in and out. No fix and too much of a hassle to have to un-plug and plug it back in.

I've used HDMI1 and HDMI2 simultaneously and I've used HDM2 and analog simultaneously but not all three. Have you tried setting the "Dual HDMI Output" to "Split A/V?"
