The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings (3 Disc Blu-Ray Audio Edition)2014
I have had many versions of "At Fillmore East" over the years. I have seen The Allman Brothers with Duane Allman at SF Winterland and with out him at Laguna Seca, Monterey. I know this music like the back of my hand and this reissue nailed it.
Wow. How great is this 3 Disc Blu Ray, super great. Great on screen pictures. Super great remaster and mix in 5.1. The majority of music is coming at you from the front with a small amount of perfect ambiance to fill the room that increases with the audience between songs, etc.
Liner Notes: Superb mini booklet tells the story of the two day, 4 concert set list and how it all evolved with Tom Dowd in the recording truck. Great historical liner notes. You have to read for yourself. The booklet tells you what songs and why where picked out of the 4 shows for the original LP.
The 3 discs are: Disc 1 3/12/71, Disc 2 3//13/71 and Disc 3 an added bonus is the closing night 6/27/71 of the Fillmore East, The Allman Brothers Band being the closing band of that venue.
My SACD/Blu Ray player has an option where if wanted I can change the track list an any disc, this option is useful on this recording as I can make my own original LP track list while getting the sonic beauty of this Blu Ray edition.
I have nothing negative to say about this version of one of the greatest live albums of all time.
From stereo to multi channel to packaging and the great historical notes written by John Lynskey I am very happy.

In the early to mid 70's there were some outstanding live albums and most of them were double albums. There are some real classics to say the least, The Who's "Live At Leeds" and one of my faves
Humble Pie "Performance Rockin' The Filmore", and yet another minor classic Ten Years After "Recorded Live" and who could not forget, they say is an all time classic amongst the hard rock
devotees UFO "Strangers In The Night" i guess i better throw in a couple more Thin Lizzy "Live And
Dangerous" Iron Maiden "Live After Death" Deep Purple "Made In Japan" Foghat "Foghat Live"
Lynyrd Skynyd "One More From/For The Road, Peter Frampton "Frampton Comes Alive" Queen Live Killers
and now we come to an all time classic The Allman Brothers Band Live At The Filmore, as i have noticed a number of these albums have been getting their 40th anniversary editions, and most of these are huge 4cd's at times 5 discs including dvd & bluray sets, The Allman Brothers Band is also
huge, i actually went for the 3disc bluray and gee it will take ages to get through but in the end it's well worth it, at times there are a few repeats but played in a more cohesive sound, all of the above are brilliant, on a personal note it would be difficult to select the order, get them all!!
