I always been stumped by the sequence of tracks on this album, with slow marvellous ballads practically alternating with hard rock scream fests. Kravitz handles each with aplomb of course, but I find it irritatating. In any case this classic album benefits greatly from a Pure Audio release compared to my original CD, with much greater space and air in the recording. The mastering does not sound that different to me from the original cd, and it may indeed be the same, however the improved resolution of the format had me interrupt my normal playback routine to just sit and listen to this classic album... twice when that wasn't anywhere near my original plan. To me that is high praise when music is able to capture your attention and sustain it.
Digital analysis of the tracks reveals much information above 23KHz up to 45-50KHz on this 192KHz/24bit recording, confirming what my ears were hearing, and confirming a likely high-resolution source of this release.
