Performance:   Sonics:
This first volume devoted to Franz Liszt under the fingers of pianist Sviatoslav Richter allows us the possibility of hearing pieces such as the 8 Études d’Exécution Transcendante (Preludio, Étude, Paysage, Feux Follets, Eroica, La Chasse Sauvage, Étude, Harmonie du Soir) and the famous and unique Sonata in B Flat that the Hungarian composer finished in 1853. “The Sonata in B Flat benefits in all ways from a separate statute,” states François-René Tranchefort. “It remains unique in the musician’s production. By harvesting the fruits of late Beethoven while admitting the influence of the Wanderer Fantasy of Schubert (that Liszt orchestrated in 1851), and at the same time announcing the harmonic audacity of the ultimate pieces for piano, it remains unique in romantic literature by its originality, its inspiration, and the boldness of its construction. In short, the Sonate in B Minor is a landmark in the history of music of the 19th century, while at the same time alone summarizes Liszt’s genius.” In a new DSD mastering based on the master tapes, this new edition rejuvenates these must-have recordings.
