This is a great folk/rock album that contains at least three greatest hits but truth be told the entire album is awesome. If you like Irish /english flavoured folk music and are familiar with this album and band I think you will be totally pleased with this sacd.

This album really is a classic that still manages to impress.

This new Shm Sacd is a solid sounding release. I still feel that the 2nd generation of shm sacd's sound different than the 1st batch..........but this sacd has a fantastic tonality that has that authentic analogue feel to it. There seems to be a gentle roll off of the treble perhaps noise reduction..... but this disc has extreme impact with its total sound. The sound is full, rich and very deep. The sound is burnished like a varnished piece of wood. I know this is a strange comparison.....but thats how I feel by the sound. I guess a better way to describe it..the sound is dark but totally alive and engrossing.
The low end.......bass and drums are very deep. Sound stage wide.......a strong musical presence is heard all the way through. Of the new batch of shm sacd's I ve purchased this is one of the very best all around.
Denny's voice is very well described..with unheard of presence. Never overbearing or etched. I could go on and on.

Who knows where the time goes....Denny's masterpiece has never sounded this good before. There is no reverb added and some might find this disc a tad dry but its not. This disc is a powerhouse of recorded sound and the tape source is pristine.

Highly recommended.
An excellent shm sacd with beautiful mastering.
Grab a big pint or two and crank the volume.but not to much.

Slightly disappointed - I should say that I have a Hannibal LP of this disc and not being a first generation Island pressing, I assumed it would be easily bettered. I was mistaken. This SACD version is good but does not have that special 'something' that good SACD's do. On first listening I was underwhelmed so decided to put my Hannibal LP on as a comparison. My fairly limited experience of SACD's is that the good ones will be the equal or even better a good LP but this release doesn't manage that. My audio system is fairly revealing and to me, this SACD sounded thin. In conclusion, if you have a good LP version of this Fairport album and a decent turntable, I wouldn't bother with this SACD. Having said that, if you operate in a digital only environment then this does give a taste of what the LP sounds like.
