I noted only recently this series of historic recordings by Praga Digital dedicated to Sviatoslav Richter! As I didn't have those Schubert works on sacd and considering the price tag, I thought why not ? Given Richer's reputation of being one of all time's best pianists, my only fear was the sound quality. The original tapes are from 1962 and 1972. I have to admit I was stunned. I spinned this disc and started listening to it thinking about something else. But the music grabbed me immediately. And by music I don't mean "sound", I really mean music. Don't get me wrong, the sound is as good as a dsd remastering of a 1960s tape can be. Fairly good, and it serves it's purpose well: leading the music to my ears and mind. I can't wait to discover the other titles in that series.
