Performance:   Sonics:
I suppose that the best way to describe how I feel about this disc is, that even though I am neither a Christian nor an especially religious sort of individual, the performance is such that I still thoroughly enjoy listening to this material. IMHO The supporting musicians and backing vocals (The Deacons) are "first rate" and the recording itself falls into the "demo-class". Two of the cuts that I really enjoy are 'In My Father's House' and 'Tell Ol' Bill'.

I think you will find this a welcome and valued addition to any SACD library.

Performance:   Sonics:
This is the first Eric Bibb recording I listened to, and it's still the best place to start IMO. The sound quality is first rate (even if it is recorded 'live', and is not recorded very loud, compared to multi-tracked rock recordings) and the quality of the songs and the playing is superb. As a previous reviewer pointed out, the back-up singers on this (the Deacons) are terrific and well-recorded. Eric Bibb is a superbly restrained yet very expressive vocalist and guitarist and this recording (one of his earlier recordings) stands up extremely well to repeated playings. It's uplifting, involving and very easy on the ear. I will be seeing Eric Bibb live in Canberra (Australia) in early April 05 and this recording is the reason why. Like a previous reviewer, I particularly like "In my Father's House" and "Tell Ol' Bill".
