This is a wonderful sacd, the sound is really warm and alive. The multichannel tracks are staggering! That amazing voice is done full justice on this release. Whether you listen to the multichannel or stereo you are in for a treat.

Now this is a great album and a great recording.....

Backed up with the brilliant Billy May and his full orchestra, Nat King Cole struts his smooth velvety voice in full stereo. In fact the album liner notes address the fact that Cole always wanted to record with May and his orchestra like Sinatra had.

This SACD is great proof why Hoffman loves remastering from the vintage 50's masters ! Obviously these master tapes were in very good shape as the sounds is truly flawless, rich and deep!

There are both stereo and mono mixes of this album and both sound just top drawer!

.....simply great !

There are enough said about Nat King Cole and his arts. So this review is really not about performance and music, but only about the sonic.

The 3 channel surround sound are simply superb, Cole's voice is from the center channel, presents a much wider and detailed sound field than any stereo release.

But the stereo remaster (both in SACD and CD layer) is a very different story. "Different" is the correct word to describe what I have heard.

First of all, the SACD layer of the stereo is slightly warmer than the CD layer if you listen carefully.

Then how does the stereo remaster compare with other RBCD releases? I can only say the AP remastering sounds different from the original Capitol's RBCD. It sounds drier in fact, I am not sure if this is how others call "warmer". I can only see AP's version sounds dry and very different.

There are a different RBCD version for this album: it is the EMI special market label "Collector's Choice" CD release "Just One of Those Things/Let's Face the Music Single" (ASIN: B000TIO4RS)

When I repetitively compare the stereo, the Collector's Choice's RBCD beat the AP's SACD and Capitol RBCD squarely every time and every songs!

This finding is interesting, because it is totally not what I have expected.
