This is fourth and the last release of Sir Colin Davis' amazing live Sibelius cycle with London Symphony Orchestra. This SACD includes Symphonies Nos. 5 & 6. Fifth Symphony is very cool: first movement's bassoon solo is excellent, and second movement's beautiful thema is very effective. Last movement shows London Symphony Orchestra's virtuosity: horns famous "swan theme" is stunning. Symphony ends orchestra's fff accords. Sixth Symphony is also very good: first movement's beauty (harp's and woodwinds' singing themes) comes very close in LSO Live's 5.1 multichannel recording. Second movement's tempo is moving and little fast, but I like it. Last movement is very good: end's strings' thema is very beautiful. Symphony ends in silence. Highly recommend, indeed!
