Performance: Sonics: |
Some earlier reviews on Audio Asylum discouraged me from buying this disc due to its sonics. Well, I saw it for a good price--and bought it. I forgot about why I hadn't purchased it before.
I played it and then Taylor's JT. Wow! What a difference. The Taylor SACD is lightyears better than Folsum Prison. The Cash SACD is fuzzy and flat in comparision, and lacks dynamics. I've listened to better Grateful Dead recordings that were made from portable cassette recorders.
Well, I've listened to the Fosum Prison SACD at least 10 times now, and sonics be damned, I really like the performance. I'm glad I bought it. It has a unique selection of tunes and the performance is fabulous. I've seen this CD on one all time 100 top CD listing, and I can see why.
Looks like Sony did not use Folsum Prison to highlight SACD, but hoped that SACD could improve the sonic quality of a super performance.
