To elaborate a bit, this is easily one of the finest piano recordings I have heard. It has tremendous presence and clarity without thrusting the listener under the lid. There is a nice amount of air around the instrument, too.
The performances are excellent, as well. Edelmann does not pound the piano into submission like some Russian pianists do; his playing is a model of elegance and clarity. Indeed, I've heard several inner voices that have escaped detection until now. Truth be told, I wouldn't mind a bit more virtuoso flair, especially in the opening Fantasy, but that is a minor niggle in the face of such otherwise beautiful playing.
The main down side is the relatively short (60 min) playing time--surely he could have added another piece or two to fill up the remaining 20 minutes--that and the hefty price for US customers (nearly $40). Still, I highly recommend it.
