This is an astonishing triumph by the San Francisco Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas. Surely the very best Das Lied von der Erde ever committed to disc. Even in stereo it demands your attention and insists on being heard tio the last echo fades away. Outstanding singing and fine pointing combined in a performance of outstanding majesty and beauty. Recording is of demonstration class.
