Art Lande is an amazing musician. He was my teacher and is my friend. To produce this album with him was a gift. I have had many opportunities to produce recordings with Art in the past, but for this recording, Art allowed me a 'private concert' in the style and manner that I find most endearing about him. The ballads... the quiet... the sound... This is not gymnastics, this is music.
While some may find this recording too tame, it takes incredible accuracy and control to execute an album that is so 'light' and sincere. Not cluttered by a lot of notes, Art brings tone to the Steinway in a manner that very few pianists can do.
This is an album of lullabies and subtlety. A study of control for a pianist.
Anyone can record Art performing pianistic feats at the speed of light. This recording took 12 years to prepare for. He was ready and I was able to have the recording machines ready to go.
It was a pleasure to produce and continues to be a favorite to listen to.
