Performance: Sonics: |
Quite overvalued performance of Beethoven's "Eroica". Vladimir Ashkenazy made this cycle with NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo, during his career with the Japanese orchestra. The performances were recorded from the live concerts. Well, we have many recordings of the symphony. But this recording moved on the normal line. The playing was polished and Ashkenazy had a clear vision... There weren't any "special effects": too smooth. I listened the whole disc with my headphones. The recording quality was excellent [stereo]. The audience's wild applauses crowned the nice approaches. Recommend. ________________________________________________________________ ESSENTIAL PURCHASE: Minnesota Orchestra, Osmo Vänskä (BIS)
