Performance: Sonics: |
Ritchie was before my time, but I'm familar with several of his greatest hits. I find listening to this a journey back to the 1950's. The producer did everything possible to include as much music as possible.
I like the first couple cuts and then things seem to get a little old. However, I don't experience this "boredum" while listening in my car. For me, it's not the kind of album I just listen to and do nothing else. This is due to my taste, and not the quality of the album. I added an extra "star" for performance due to the number of cuts and I assume that all of his "hits" are here.
I don't own any other Valens material, so I have nothing to compare, but I'm pleased with the sonic quality. At times, the trebble seems to vary. It's good here, and not as good later--even with the same song. But I'm pleased.
If one wants one Valens album, this is an excellent choice.
