I have many expectations in this SACD, because of the hi musical level of PinkFloyd. This is a typical audiophile disc, a stellar recording from Chesky and a unsual performance based on sax and drums.
All PF listeners know that is impossible to better the original score of all PF works until Final Cut album. Even so this Jazz musicians decide do not adapt the original score for yours instruments (make a cover) they made a new score, a Jazz score, this new one have very small parts for B3 and Guitar, this score is not Prog. Rock music, neither it follow the original melody, instead they improvise in the Jazz idiom,
the outcome is that if you are a Modern Jazz fan you will love, but if you are a Prog Rock fan you shall listen before buy. Iam a Jazz fan, but in respect to the musicians I will give no note to the performance,
as Iam a Prog. Rock fan too and music is a matter of personal taste. There is nine tracks, not six and time is 55:29, Chesky make secret and do not inform if the digital recorder is PCM or DSD.
The Stereo sound is astonishing, the MultiCh mix is insignificant to me.

I'll share with you my impressions, take them with a grain of salt; the sonics of this album are decent, but not entirely remarkable. I think there are few who would suddenly sit up when this album is played and say, "and now HERE'S a SA-CD showcase album."
As far as what's going on musically, I can't find fault with any of the recording artists' performance, it's just, an unappealing set of compositions. Had this been a straight up set of jazz covers that follow the original songs, I'd've likely enjoyed the album far more. Instead, it's a distillation of freeform abstract interpretations of impressions that might have been left after listening to the original Pink Floyd tunes. There are a few tracks that rise above this unfortunate state of affairs; track four comes to mind.
Overall, I'm not sure this album was worth the $15 or so I spent on it, but it successfully tapped into a pent-up urge to hear more PF on SA-CD given the enternity the world has been waiting for another remastered PF LP after DSotM.
