Reviews: Miles Davis: Sketches of Spain

Performance:   Sonics:
Since there is no Hybrid SACD review ill take shot at it.

From the Gil Evans collaboration (1957 to 1963) Sketches of Spain is defiantly my favourite record.

Listen to the perfect arrangement by Gil Evans. Orchestra and jazz band the way it should be. To Davis on a flügelhorn with a Harmon mute with some amazing technical solo's on Saeta and of course the amazing Concierto de Aranjuez (composer Joaquin Rodrigo).

Sound quality is very good, No bonus tracks or additional material on this CD.
SACD remastering is the same as the "The Original Jacket Collection of 2006"

Be aware that if you pick up this remastered release you are missing the following tracks compared to SACD release CS 65142.

6. Song of Our Country 3:23
7. Concierto de Aranjuez, Part 1 12:04
8. Concierto de Aranjuez, Part 2 3:33

Personally I think the Sonics are worth losing 3 tracks.
The sound has a warm, full quality to it and instruments are well positioned.

This Sketches of Spain is Part of the October 24, 2007 release
