Reviews: Monty Alexander: Stir It Up, The Music of Bob Marley

Performance:   Sonics:
I love Bob Marley, and much Ragae music. This album is recorded well, but it just doesn't seem to have the impact of original Marley material. There's nothing I can put my finger on, but if I judge it by how often I play the album, it's a stretch to rate the performance 3 stars.

Performance:   Sonics:
I bought this SACD on a whim, and it was a stroke of good luck. I have trouble liking jazz music, I come from the rock 'n roll background, and I've been a Bob Marley fan for 15-some-odd years.

And this album was a perfect shift into jazz, I have a whole new respect for it now. These songs are great re-makes of Bob Marley's classics. They are all creatively re-invented for jazz, yet still hold onto Mr. Marley's original emotional meanings to the songs.
