Reviews: Richie Beirach Trio: No Borders

Reviews: 1

Review by Barb January 20, 2008 (1 of 1 found this review helpful)
Performance:   Sonics:
R. Beirach p, G. Mraz b, B. Drummond ds, G. Huebner violin, Venus 2002.
The trio with the guest plays nine compositions primarily from classical composers, from Bach, Beethoven, Chopin to Debussy, Satie and one from Beirach. I`m not very familiar with that kind of music, but what is played here doesn`t sound much like classical music to me. This is jazz using classical melodies, influences by classical music can be heard by sure. No borders, simply. But in the end it is great jazz played by great improvisers and soloists and it is not a kind of jazz-classical fusion.
The sound is perfect, rich of colour, very good soundstage and imaging, air for the instruments to breath, very dynamic, brilliant.
