Sonics:
stere sonics: I know the audiophile LP edition very well, so I know how wonderful this concert can sound. This SACD is totally disapointing! The voice, the aplause and all hights sound hard and hissy like on a bad CD. The voice has no dynamics. Belafonte without a voice, I can`t belive it.
Obviously they made no actual SACD remaster but took the AD-conversion of 1989!! Who do they think they are? I paid money for that!

Performance:   Sonics:
Unfortunately, this SACD is no more legitimate than the original "edited" CD released in the late 80s. Approximately 25% of the original performance is missing including conversation and four songs. An SACD should be a completely re-mixed and remastered version taken from the original three-track first generation tapes. At best, the 1980s CD was a simple transfer from the original stereo LP release masters and at worst it may have been transferred from a copy of a copy. If you look closely at the cover you'll find a black line through the words "The Complete Concert" but with no other indication that these are excerpts only. That is clearly deceptive. Shame on Bertelsmann for doing this with the CD but even more shame for doing it with SACD. Caveate emptor!

I must admit that this is the first version of this album that I've heard. Mostly, I was thoroughly impressed by the concert itself, great vibe and energy :) Sonically, I wouldn't count this among the best sounding sacds that I've ever heard. Get it if you can get it reasonable price.
