Reviews: Mediterranean Sounds, Croatia's Mystic Voices - Klapa Sinj

Every bit as good as the Klapa fa Lindo disc. Klapa Sinj are a male Croation folklore ensemble, singing traditional songs from their home country. Very transparent singing with very clear articulation. The multichannel recording is spectacularly realistic, the stereo layer sounds very different, losing much of the spacious ambience.

If we didn't believe that this is one of the best Klapa CD's out there, we wouldn't handle it at our website, www.croatiagifts.com. Klapa singing (by men) is a well known tradition in Croatia, and in our opinion, it should be well-known throughout the world. This unbelievably resonant music should be heard by everyone...as it's one of Croatia's best exports. The sounds of the sea, the souls of the fishermen who used to sing these songs, the beauty of the night stars and the heart of the tiny fishing villages, are all elements that can be felt when listening to this CD. The sound is God-like.

As a die hard Classic Rock fan, I couldn't believe how much I liked this music. Don't get me wrong - this is Not Rock - it is a whole new level music that I had not heard before. In my attempt to simplify and enjoy the pleasures of life, klapa was God-sent. Just stop, close your eyes, and Listen to the most amazing harmony. After experiencing klapa sinj a few times, it has become my favorite CD. I don't understand a word of Croatian; however the pure humanity of the singing transcends language. Anytime I play klapa as background music at work - without exception I have had someone comment on the beauty of the sound. Do something good for yourself - try this CD.
