Y. Suzuki b & p, S. Noriki p & kb & synt, Y. Okabe per, M. Fujioka ss, S. China sanshin, S. Watanabe as, Y. Masuo g, H. Murakami ds, S. Inoue flt, C. Monroe ds, VideoArts 2004. All songs are originals by Suzuki, some of them strongly influenced by Japanese folk music, some of them less but most are pure jazz tracks. Unfortunately, there`s an awful synth-string sound-carpet sometimes. I would like the music more without that. But where there is none, it are real good ballads or beautiful folk jazz with uncommon melodies and harmonies for western ears. A welcome alternation of attractive and thrilling music. The tracks are played in different line-ups, sometimes lead by sax sometimes by flute, Suzuki`s bass always playing an important part. There are always beautiful melodies and interplay with some exciting soloing. The sound is perfect, rich of colour, very good soundstage and imaging, air for the instruments to breath, very dynamic, brilliant.
