Sonics:
A very fine (first!) recording of a beautiful piece of german music! This SACD contains two version of the Brahms ``Doppelkonzert´´ op. 102. The first one is a work-over by Cord Garben where the Violine is replaced by other instruments (and other changes I guess). It is nice, but I prefer the original version on SACD 2. The first SACD is 35:25, the second 33:28, that makes together 68:53 which would have easily fitted on ONE SACD. But here we have now two SACDs for the price of 38€. That's far too much. But the recording is great! Very energetic! Unfortunately there's no subwoofer (LF) track, which is silly for a cello-concert. I think I needs it, but it's still a full and warm and very direct sounding SACD. I couldn't find any information on the source for this SACD in the booklet, I guess it's PCM. It was recorded in March and Oktober 2004. The music and performance deserves five stars in my opinion. I don't give it 5 because of the far too high (rip-off) price. ONE SACD would have done the job much better!
