Performance:   Sonics:
Beautiful disc of lovely "nuevo tango" with works by Ástor Piazzolla. A student of Nadia Boulanger, Piazzolla revitalized Gardel's beloved, tango, born in whorehouses like American jazz, and gave it all sorts of classical leanings, with harmonies reminiscent of jazz and Vivaldi. YES, Vivaldi. Piazzolla loves to do concatenated circle-of-fifths bass line progressions just like the old Venetian Baroque master.

Though the disc says DSD all over it, I am not sure that it is really a DSD recording.Capriccio sometimes will remaster PCM recordings to DSD for SACD issue. That is the case with their disc of Rheinberger Organ Concerti. Those are old PCM recordings remastered for SACD.

No matter, this music is LOVELY. If you love tango and jazz, as I do, get this!

The chamber orchestra plays this music beautifully...

ENJOY!
