I began listening to Chris Wong exactly 20 years ago while in 2nd year University and over the years, have amassed a collection of nearly every CD (new releases, not collections) he has issued over his career. I immediately ordered this SACD about 3 years ago when I first began listening to SACD's.
I was immediately struck by the quality of the surround sound as well as the musical arrangement of Chris' covers (not all) of older songs. It quickly became my new favourite Chris CD. The plain CD version sounds great in my car as well as compared to standard CD's. Three years later, I still find myself reaching for EverGreen in the car, and I find the old CD's are almost tired sounding by comparison (and spent countless hours learning to sing every one of those songs years ago).
On those rare occasions, when I get a chance to pop the disc into my SACD, the multichannel mix just brings the album up to an entirely new level.
Much like Leslie Cheung's 1989 "Salute" album, I find EverGreen really shows off how Chris has matured of Chris as an artist as he covers popular songs from the past.
