Reviews: Patricia Kaas: Mademoiselle chante

Performance:   Sonics:
This is a hybrid SACD re-release of Patricia Kaas's first album, which IMHO is still her best. Originally released in 1988, it turned her into an overnight success in France and most of Europe, with two singles "Mademoiselle chante le blues" and "Mon Mec à moi" hitting the top ten as far away as Scandinavia.
The multichannel mix is truly outstanding. What a way to (re-)discover this album!
Take two cups of French chanson, a cup of German roots, half a cup of Edith Piaf, a spoonful of pop, half a spoonful of jazz, and top it off with some unrivalled French drama, and you got yourself one of the best French albums of the last 20 years.
