| Very good stereo sound from one of the greatest albums of all time. Every instrument and voice has its own space. Linda's vocals are more lush and lifelike than ever. Richard's guitar has a softer feel, less harsh than the previous CD issue. Classic songs.

This is a great album, and really shows the genius of Richard Thompson.

I bought this disc on a whim recently and figured I should share my thoughts on it.
This album is widely considered to be one of the great rock albums of its time and is highly recommended by many critics and fans. I can't say that I agree. I would normally at least review the sonics in this space, but I found the music so detestable that I couldn't listen to a single song in its entirety. What I did hear sounded fine, but I won't be putting the disc back in my player ever again. While this probably doesn't seem like much of a constructive review, I felt compelled to post this as a warning to others: Listen before you buy!

Richard & Linda Thompson - Shoot Out The Lights, SACD 1982
Shoot Out The Lights now some 30 years later on is just getting the recognition it deserves. This was the sixth and final album by British husband-and-wife folk rock duo Richard and Linda Thompson and IMHO the best piece of work they ever did together. Richard's guitar playing on this album along with his expressive voice coupled with the beautiful contrasting tones of Linda make this recording a stunning example of an album you must hear before you die ! In 2010 Rhino Handmade released 2 CD deluxe edition in ode this great album. Hannibal's Hybrid SACD re-release is simply amazing with great instrument separation and excellent sound! In particular the guitar comes out BIG time and if you crank this recording up you will swear Richard is playing in your house ! The title track "Shoot Out The Lights" is an amazing tune for sure with a crazy guitar solo in it that you wont forget. I would highly recommend you hunt this one down
