Performance: Sonics: |
This is a remarkable recording of some Ralph Vaughan Williams's best works. The musician's performance is definitely outstanding, reflecting a deep respect and understanding of RVW's music. The choice of the works is great with a mix of well known pieces and some other which are quite seldom but beautifull as well. Unfortunately, sonics are not at the level of the musician's performance : dynamics are correct, stage could be wider, accuracy is weak especially during the violin chorus in the "Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis" and the harp in "Dives and Lazarus". Anyway I like this record because of the tremendous beauty of the intepretation, forget it's an SACD and you will be happy with it!
