The jazz piano trio has been a staple for years, from Bill Evans First Trio to the Keith Jarrett Standards Trio. And now here is another, The Don Friedman Trio. These three veteran jazzmen sound like they have been playing together for years. And they have, in a way, but never together as a trio until the first 88's release of Waltz For Debby. This new release is more of the same, only better. There is a nice mix of standards, including wonderful renditions of the title tune, Giant Steps, and 3 Don Friedman originals. The sound here is simply the best. Eighty Eights always have good sound, as well they should for the price. 5 stars all around
