Calling this album “the best of” is nothing more than a joke. Because this is the first album released by de Poema’s. There really isn’t even a band called de Poema’s. This band is a collaboration between two Dutch act. Which released a single for the fun of it, but after they had a major hit on their hands decided to release some more.
A few years after their first hit single, they have finally released their debut and final album. De Poema’s are no more.
Don’t buy this album if you don’t understand the language. Because Dutch isn’t the most charming thing to listen to.
Sound quality is pretty good, but nothing to exciting.

Although I'm Dutch myself I don't care much for Dutch music. I don't like the sound of our language much where singing is involved. Most music I listen to comes from the states and the UK. What I don't like about a lot of these productions is the fact that they are heavily compressed and over produced. This SA-CD however is as well well balanced and mixed as perfectly as possible. The voices are natural and reveal the human voice in a way that productions from the States seldom do. The 5.1 mix is an example of how it should be done. Elliot Scheiner is one of the best but the Dutch guys who did the recording and mixing of this album are at least as good as he is. The music completely surrounds you without you noticing it. The dynamics are uncompressed treating the listener with an almost live like experience. Some more US musicians should have their music recorded in Holland. And last but not least I have to confess that the lyrics are as good as they could have been while being sung in English. This is a great undervalued SACD.
