I bought this SACD on cdbaby.com. It was a shot in the dark as I was not familiar with the group.
Sonically the disc is excellent, it is a great melodic rock album. The drums sound crisp, the guitars
are nice and crunchy and this lends itself nicely to the SACD format. The performace is great,
excellent writing and musicianship. There are traces of a Pink Floyd influence but in a modern context.
Upon checking out the bands website I found out that "Love is Grand" is actually a concept album.
As well as the great songs there are some pretty cool vignettes between songs. As the last song fades out you can
actually hear the sound get buried alive. I don't know how they did it but it is really cool. You can hear the dirt
covering the grave. If you like well executed rock music, I highly recommend this release.

A friend recommended this record. I got it through CDBaby, mainly to check out Hybrid SACD. Rarely do I get surprises like this one. More records than not are produced with maybe one good track designed to get attention, then you discover the rest is fodder. Not this record. It rocks with cleverly humorous lyrics, fantastic melodies, and great production from the first note to the last, (with that last note being buried under ground). Not in a long time have I been this excited about telling people about a new disc. Get it, and be the first kid on your block to own the best rock/concept record since "Dark Side of the Moon".

I purchased this CD back in October. I have almost worn it out listening to it so much! I now own 3 copies! This is by far one of the best CD's I have ever heard. The quality is surreal. These guys are amazing. If you don't have this CD, I highly recommend you get it. Rarely do you find a CD such as this that gives you track after track of absolutley excellent music that you just cannot stop listening to. The guitars, drums, vocals, etc. are nothing short of perfect.

Perhaps one of the greatest POP/Rock albums you've never heard of. 14 cuts and nearly 50 minutes of incredibly well played rock, uncompressed, in which raucous sound effects segue into melodic ditties by some amazingly well~ accomplished musicians. It's hard to pick a favorite cut because, in reality, they're all great and I'm hard pressed to say that with all the pseudo crap out there today, the Suitcase Pimps deserve a place in the Parthenon of rock demi~gods.

Played through my Marantz SA112s into my Meridian 861 V.6 in Trifield mode, this stereo (and I believe DSD recorded) album has an immersive surround field and if I didn't know better would swear it's multichannel (but, alas, it's not).

Amazon has this album at a decent price, new, so before it disappears forever, take the plunge and add Suitcase Pimps' "Love Is Grand" to your ever expanding SACD collection.

You won't regret the purchase.

I'm really wondering if these guys are from Liverpool?

Just kidding....but they're insanely great!

The Suitcase Pimps one and only album `LOVE IS GRAND``was an excellent discovery! The band are pretty clever and wrote a pretty groovy toe tapping album full of power pop.......

This is the perfect album to roll your car windows down to this summer and have pumping out for all to hear! Not a bad track on this album....Musically it is not all far from lets say Cheap Trick or Tinted Windows

Musically the Suitcase Pimps blend the power pop prowess of NRBQ with the Funky Grooves of the Spin Doctors and the urban vibes of Radiohead.

Now the other really cool thing is that the SACD layer is excellent and offers some nice deep rich tones and emotions. I am just so glad they decided to put this album on SACD vs just redbookìng it "! .........I may not have bought it to be honest had it not been on SACD and that would have been a real shame.

Hate to say it but this album sounds great turned up a bit too......

Summer is coming and this is an essential SACD for the power-pop lovers out there.....
