Performance:   Sonics:
The SACD is surround, an immersing mix without directional effects, which I think suits soundtracks and classical music quite well. I seem to recall that the piano and oboe tended to sound a little shrill on the CD. This is improved on the SACD, if not completely perfect. I guess there are limitations to the original recording. I have not listened to the SACD stereo track.

To sum up I think it's very nice to have this soundtrack in surround, with slightly improved sonics when compared to the CD. Film soundtracks are ideally suited for release on surround SACD, and I hope more will be in the future.

Performance:   Sonics:
I admit to being somewhat of an SACD novice (only a stereo SACD guy), but of the 2 dozen+ I own this may have some of the best sonics to date.
Tracks 12 and 14-20 are unreal in how clean and crisp they sound. This is the closest to true instrument-emulation (and vocal) I have played. Wow.
I should state I own the Japanese SCAD vesion of this soundtrack - don't know if that makes a difference.
I played it on a Marantz SACD player through some Tannoy DC6-T speakers.... and I am pretty blown way by the experience. I had forgotten how much I love the movie but it goes beyond this - these tracks are demo quality.
Cheers,
