This is a wonderful disc of contrapuntal renaissance music. Costanzo Festa wrote 125 variations on a 37 note "melody", for lack of a better word. This is a recording of 32 of those. They are well played by the Huelgas Ensemble in a nice program that never seems to repeat and always sounds fresh and alive. The Harmonia Mundi recording is well done as well, giving a really good presentation to the instruments and the music. Highly recommended
