Reviews: The Rolling Stones: Sympathy for the Devil Remix

Everyone has a different opinion regarding these remixes and frankly, i just can't see myself listening to this whole album in one sitting as there is too much redundancy. These are essentially three remixes of the same song, with a long and short version of each for a total of six track ranging from under four minutes to over 8 minutes in lenght.

But never mind all that!

This album is A MUST for anyone because of it's last track: The original Sympathy for the Devil, beautifully remixed in 5.1 Multichanel Audio. Here, the lead guitar and vocals use the center chanel and the congas and maracas have been sent to the surrounds to provide a nice envelopping sound without getting cheezy...

If only all the Stones' Abkco rereleases were like this!

My favorite stones song, so this review may be a bit baised. I love this SACD, but do agree w/ the other review that it can be a bit redundant, it repeats, it says the same thing over and over... get the picture? Yes, the last track is brilliant, but I also love the Fatboy Slim take on the song. very cool.

You have to take this SACD for what it is. It is a SINGLE, so for people who say what did I just buy? Well, you knew it was a single, if you wanted more Stones than a single is obviously not the best option and your negative reviews and malcontent are spawned merely from your misconceptions regarding what this is causing a perfect example of negative bias. END RANT

This SACD is awesome, obviously the last track with the original in 5.1 is the best, that is all I bought it for. If I could spend less than 10 dollars on 5.1 versions mixed as well as this for my favorite songs I'd spend quite a bit. I find myself putting this SACD on only for the last track all the time. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Although the other mixes are different, they are still pretty cool. Definitely worth a listen, especially the mix by the Neptunes.

Grab this SACD, it's cheap and I have yet to see a 5.1 of Sympathy anywhere else. 100% worth it.

As this site is about sound and not performances, I only have to say one thing: this is a DEMO disc, it really has the WOW factor. So if you just want to show your friends how great your system and this format is, just pay a few cents to get (and play) this SACD. Everybody knows Sympathy for the Devil and everybody will be happily surprised after experiencing the sound of this artifact.

The Rolling Stones: Sympathy for the Devil Remix. Stereo and Multichannel. Hybrid SACD.

One of those fun discs that is good to have. I purchased via Amazon for $7.00.

Performance: The first 3 artists makeup 6 remixes like Disco style. OK, if you like that sort of thing.

Stereo Sonics: I did not listen.

Multichannel sonics: The point is track 7, Sympathy For The Devil in 5.1 by The Rolling Stones. Awesome. Fully immersive all speakers very active, but with out gimmicks. Clear, big wide sound.

Packaging: Hologram cover in a plastic jewel case. $3.00 gift certificate, liner notes, etc.

As others point out and what got me to buy the disc this is an incredible version of a great song. I am glad I have it and I only spent $7.00 on it.
My 5 stars on performance is for track 7, my 5 stars on multichannel sonics is for the entire disc as all of it has great sonic quality.
